Mann-o-Salwa

 03rd of April 2022

Woke up early today. I need to shower myself first. Slow flow of water really disturbing me. I did not wash my hair for a week. They look like a mess. Too thick and too ugly to handle. And I cannot use the shower thing. God, why? Then, I was prepared for sahur. We just ate a really simple dish this morning. Nuggets, cabbage and honey chicken. Full? Maybe just enough food to survive till this evening. I lay on my bed again and waited till 06.00am. Performed Subuh prayer, and started to read the Quran. To be honest, it has been such a long time I have not read the Quran. When I started to read again, I feel like I just meet someone that I did not know that I was missing him this much. I love the fact that my tongue remember the taste of every alphabets in it. It has not staggered at all. I spent time reading the translation of it. Telling about the story of Adam and Eve on their first day in Heaven also Moses's story when his followers started to believe in female cow instead of the Almighty God.

But the main part in this translation is how Bani Israel easily forgets the kindness that they received. Mann-O-Salwa, From what I have learnt before, it was a type of honey-meal-like something that was gifted to Bani Israel during prophethood of Moses. These people demanded from their prophet to ask Allah a special meal for them to fulfill their hunger. It is the food of Jannah. Mann was a kind of like dew drops that can be found on trees, sweeter than honey and whiter than snow. Meanwhile Salwa was a quail. Only Allah Almighty knows the best what actually Mann–o-Salwa looks alike and taste, we cannot imagine the sweetness that is more than honey and whiteness more than milk. Allah Almighty blessed the people of Bani Israel with this food without demanding anything. However, greed is human nature, people of Bani Israel disobeyed Allah’s command not to store or preserve the food. Due to this disobedience, the food they stored rotted and the blessings of Mann and Salwa stopped. That’s why the Holy Prophet said that ‘had the Bani Israel not existed, neither food would get spoiled nor would meat have rotten’. The decay of food and meat rotting started since then. Otherwise, prior to that event, neither food would spoil, nor would meat rot. I always heard about Mann-o-Salwa things. But little do I know that this story affected us till now.

Your stomachache continues to make you uncomfortable till now. You said that because you ate spicy food few days ago. If you know you cannot handle it, why you still tried to eat the food? Afraid that the food will be wasted? It is understandable if you cannot finish it. You should know your capabilities in handling something. Of course you will get an uneasy feeling in your stomach after eating spicy food. There is a capsaicin in it, the fiery substance found in chili peppers, can elicit intense short-term symptoms, like stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting in those who consume extreme amounts. This occurs due to overstimulation of the nervous system. But, luckily for you, the good news is no permanent damage is done to the intestinal lining. Although spicy foods can promote healthy digestion, it can also aggravate already existing digestion issues. Please, take care of yourself.
